In as much that we are all a product of our genes and environment, and that we do most of our formation in the environment of the womb, I think these are very valid ideas. However large population based studies (ie a 1.2 fold increase i IQ if mum is not stressed) translates into very small individual effects. I’d be concerned that mums would get uneccesarily worried by the book. One of the great thigs about parenthood is how little control we actually have !

It’s funny, there were so many comments on iVillage about women not being able to do it. I don’t think many of us actually could, but it doesn’t sound so bad, in theory.
