Frankly, I’m getting tired of reaching around in the car to grab a drink/toy/video game from one of my children, only to find I’ve pulled out my back/shoulder/neck. You see, I used to be more “bendy.” In the old days I could pick something up without hearing the snap, crackle, pop of my rickety vertebrae. Yes, I was young, once. Though my mind tells me I’m no more than 25, my body begs to differ.
At 30-something-ish, I never thought my body would feel so geriatric. I mean, I don’t even know how to play mahjong (yep, I’m behind the curve), though I do carry a cane so that I can shake it at teenagers while spouting off sage, but somewhat confusing advice, like: “Never bike against traffic, it’s bad for your pancreas.”
Which is why I called in the big guns for this week’s episode of The Jenny Isenman Show: Rob Sulaver, trainer to the stars and founder of Bandana Training to give us a quickie morning stretch that any mom can do. You know, so we won’t have to pop things back into place later in the day.
Here it is:
PS – I’ve been doing it for about a month now and I LOVE it!
PPS – My trainer is super cute, plus my hot barista shows up in the this episode, shirtless. So, it’s worth watching, even if you’re on your couch eating Cheetos and have no intention of ever stretching anything — other than your “scrolling” finger!
I hope you enjoyed it, and go ahead and share it with the mama’s in your life, we all need a little get up and go!
XO-
Jenny from the blog
Oh boy do I hear you!! I have been told since I was a teenager that I would some day have arthritis (isn’t that a kick in the butt). I used to laugh because my mom could not sneak upstairs – her one knee popped too loudly. Guess whose knee does that now?!! I run and I boxed/kickboxed for a while and I try to stretch around those. But I really should be stretching daily so thanks for this!! Now excuse me while I go stand up from this chair, hopefully not spraining my back.
p.s. Um . . . . how HOT is your barista??!! OOoooooo mama like.
I know right?!
Well if you can make it to the floor, try it out. If not, at least you tried!
Great new moves!!! I appreciate all the help I can get, without 3 trips to the gym a week I’d look like an over baked potato. “like”
Never. You’re a hottie!
That cross-leg stretch completely reminds me of the Brady Bunch’s concert tour moves – ‘gonna keep on, keep on, keep on, keep on dancin’ all through the night!’ Thanks for that and the simple, yet effective stretch ideas to jump start the morning.
Lol we just need a rainbow array of bell bottoms. I call yellow!
I re posted. Love it! You could be the funniest girl I know!
That means a lot coming from you. I know some of your friends, they’re funny … Does that statement include Scott? ‘Cuz he might leave you over that!
Congrats to you. I love watching the segment.
Thx honey and thanks for watching!
great ideas for starting off my morning; I definitely can use some stretching ideas, and these are very doable.
Funny you should bring up exercise– I’ve just started back with a vengeance (meaning more than occasionally) and to my shock, I can now see if I’m about to back over someone when parking (!) It isn’t the overly obtrusive head rests on a Subaru which had been blocking my view. It was my stiff, tight back. Thanks for the encouragement!
