Did I Actually Say That? Times are Tougher than I Thought

SweetNLow1500Okay I must admit, like all of you, I see that times are tough, but I just got off the phone with a friend and caught myself saying something that implied that things have really gone south.

Me:  “Hey, can you pick me up a buffalo chicken sandwich at Fresh Market?”

Friend: “Sure.”

Me:  “Don’t forget to ask for the blue cheese dressing.  If it’s not in the container, they give it to you on the side… and it’s free.”

And it’s free??? Really, did I just use that phrase to imply that it’s freeness would make asking for it worth her while?  Like she wouldn’t be willing to spring for it?  Maybe I should have suggested she ask for two packets and explain to the woman at the counter that “she likes her some blue cheese,” but really, she should secretly keep the extra pack in her fridge for a salad.  Mawahaha.

I have officially lost it.  I will now be the lady who swipes Sweet N’ Low packets from the table and shoves ketchups into my over sized pocket book.  I may even black market those things, or (if I can pilfer enough) put them up on eBay.  Oh yeah, then I’ll be in the money, and I won’t have to suggest that people make sure to get the free condiments that they are rightfully due.

Friend:  “Hey, have you had their chicken fingers?  The kids would love them.”

Me:  “No, but just answer the million dollar question:  Do they come with free honey mustard?”

You sound like all MY friends, boy are you getting old. I was out with friends the other day at Panera’s and you know how they leave samples out for you to taste. Well they have a raisin bread with icing there every week. The guys go up and take it for dessert, some of them even pack a little inside a napkin and take them with them. I just look the other way…

Priceless! In this economy we all love the free stuff. BTW the raisin bread at Panera is to die for!

Ok, must admit– as one who travels for business every other week– I ALWAYS take my Decaf Coffee/Tea, sweetner and creamer! I have given myself a full pat on the back on a day when I wake up at home with NO coffee… and/or no cream!!! Makes it a beautiful day in an instant!

Judi- sounds good to me. I’m a fan of the shampoo, conditioner, and moisturizers. I have enough stocked up from trips across the globe to keep my skin soft and my hair clean for years to come.
